What is Mary Joy

Mary Joy Aid Through Development (MJATD), establsished in 1994 as non political, non religious and not profit making, is the legal Ethiopian Non governmental organization. MJATD came into existence by the major role played by Zebider Zewdie -the present executive director (Do you Know Sr. Zebider Zewdie )
Mary Joy works in an integrated urban development programs in collaboration with different international NGOs, GO’s and Community Based Organizations to improve the health and living conditions of some of the poorest people in Ethiopia.

What Mary Joy does

Mary Joy works towards empowering children, women, families and other underserved community groups through integrated development programs which focus on capacity building and encourages the genuine participation of beneficiaries to the effect that target communities become HIV/AIDS competent and their livelihoods improved.
Mary Joy has a decade experience in the area of integrated urban development and has identified three major thematic areas of intervention on which to focus for the next five years (2005-2009).

How Mary Joy works

Mary Joy is guided by a constitution directed by a General Assembly, an Executive Board and administered by an Executive Director. Mary Joy is a member of CRDA, COFAP, HACI and maintains good working relations with various stakeholders including the beneficiary community, government and non-governmental organizations.

Where Mary Joy is operational

Currently Mary Joy ATD has three program locations these are: Addis Ababa Administration Region and Awassa town which is the capital town of Ethiopia and the administration center of SNNPR /Southern Nation and Nationalities People Regional State/ respectively.
